Dan Duquette, a former Boston Red Sox General Manager, reportedly met with Pirates Chairman Bob Nutting about the upcoming vacancy for Pirates CEO. As I reported earlier this summer, current CEO Kevin McClatchy is stepping down at the end of the season.
Whoever takes over for McClatchy is going to have their work cut out for them, but on the plus side, it will be difficult for anyone to do a worse job than McClatchy. McClatchy has consistently overpaid mediocre and bad players(like Jason Kendall, Pittsburgh's highest paid player, even though he's playing for ), signed washed up veterans(Matt Morris, Derek Bell, etc), and let go of their best players because they were too cheap(this is a long list, but we'll start with Barry Bonds, Tim Wakefield, Oliver Perez, Mike Gonzalez, Aramis Ramirez, Brian Giles).
Regardless of takes over for McClatchy, Pittsburgh also needs to get rid of Manager Jim Tracy and GM Dave Littlefield.
