How Bout That

Last weekend, the Pirates won two consecutive games against the Philadelphia Phillies after trailing by 4 in both games. On Saturday, the Bucs gave up 4 runs in the top of the first before also scoring 4 in the bottom of the inning. After giving up 2 more in the second, the Pirates went on to win 11-6. On Sunday, the Pirates fell behind 4-0 before a 7 run seventh inning put them ahead on their way to a 8-4 win. Apparently this marks just the 8th time in Major League history that a team in sole possession of its league's worst record won consecutive games after trailing by 4 or more runs in both(this little tidbit came from Tim Keown over at ESPN.com). So I guess this is a good thing...well, maybe not good, but at least bittersweet, which is quite the improvement over most things you could say about Pittsburgh over the last 15 years.

The Pirates also picked up another come-from-behind win on Monday, when Josh Phelps hit an 8th inning pinch-hit homer to tie it and Freddy Sanchez knocked an RBI single into center in the 11th.
