Who's Next?

Pittsburgh athletes have been taking a beating this year. Penguins star(and NHL Savior) Sidney Crosby was the latest to go down, when he suffered a high-ankle sprain early on in a 3-0 loss to Tampa Friday night. Crosby has been added to the injured reserve and will miss 6-8 weeks. With the Penguins in the middle of a heated battle for first place in the Atlantic Division, there isn't much good to say about this. You can keep up to date with Sid's ankle at http://sidsankle.blogspot.com/.

Crosby joins the growing list of Pittsburgh athletes who have gone down this year with serious injuries. Guys like fellow Penguins Marc-Andre Fleury, Gary Roberts, and Mark Eaton. Steelers Willie Parker, Aaron Smith, Max Starks, Marvel Smith, Ryan Clark, and Dan Kreider went down in the NFL and kept the Steelers from rising above mediocrity. Pitt Panthers Mike Cook and Levance Fields also went out, essentially ending any hope of a Panther NCAA title this year. Somebody needs to put all the Pirates under house arrest until this injury bug passes. Actually on second thought, let them out. If they get hurt maybe it will keep the Pirates from trading away all our decent players before the All-Star break.
