All Sports Updates

  • Pat Summit won her 8th National Championship as coach of Tennessee as Candace Parker led the Volunteers to an easy victory over the drunken christmas trees of Stanford
  • The NHL Playoffs start tonight with four games. The Pens are out for revenge in a rematch of last years opening round series against Ottawa. This time they're the favorites.
  • Speaking of the Senators, A Canadian sportswriter is urging them to go after Sidney's ankle. Pittsburgh enforcer Georges Laraque replies: "That writer is just stupid. I've never heard anything so stupid." I'm betting Laraque and Jarkko Ruutu pick up some early penalty minutes so the Senators don't get any ideas.
  • Another Lakers win streak ends at the Rose Garden. The Lakers have lost their last 6 and 12 of the last 14 at the Rose Garden. Roy, Aldridge, and Frye all picked up double-doubles and all had more than 20 points.
  • The Masters Par 3 tournament will be aired on ESPN today. The real golf starts tomorrow.
  • The Pirates are showing periodic flashes of mediocrity. I wouldn't go so far as to say they're improving, but maybe they finally worked out a 3 year plan to figure out that 5 year plan. Hey, at least they're not the Detroit Tigers.
  • Steely McBeam got McDrunk which is cool, but then he also McDrove, McRanaRedLight, and got McArrested
